Hi, I’m Kate
Hi, I'm Kate
Hi, I’m Kate and I’m a writer. Good, now that that’s out of the way let’s get down to it.
I’m unpublished. That’s problem number one.
I’m a crap writer sometimes which I would categorize as problems 2, 3, and 4, but let’s keep this minimal.
I also have ZERO idea of how to go about publishing. Well, a little more than zero. Like on a scale from one to ten I’m thinking I’m at a four. That’s pretty good considering I’ve only been at this publishing thing for a year . . . i mean it’s kind of good. KIND of.
The main thing in my favor is that I’ve written nine books from start to end. My sixth one is my pride and joy. It’s the big kahuna. The holy mackerel. The sun beam that shines out of my butt . . . and it’s only 57k words.
I was informed that this is not long enough.
One agent said I was short by 3k words. Another said I was short by 25k words.
And you know who I’M going to believe?
I have no clue. If you have a clue that’s cool, drop it in the comments below. And if an agent is reading this . . . Hey sugar. How YOU doin’?
So what is this blog exactly? Well, I’ll tell you. This is my journey into publishing, becoming a better writer, and finding myself in and out of my novels. It’s the highs. The Lows. The even lower lows. The lows that are so painful I’d rather not tell anyone but the good Lord . . . But I will tell it. I will tell it all. Just for you sweet cheeks.
I’m also going to review writing books. Writing programs. Writing how-to’s. Writing conferences. Writing, writing, writing. Oof, I’m exhausted just thinking about it. Am I sure this was a good idea? Probably not.
If I’m not covering topics you want to hear about, drop me a comment down below or email me at XXX. Help me help you, darling. You think I’m writing this blog for myself? Psh. Nah. Simply for the adoring fans. And potential stalkers. And my mom because she’s going to read it every week, RIGHT MOM? DAD? BROTHERS? HELLO???
Truth is though, I want to inspire people to love writing like I love writing. I want to teach people to find solace in the midst of a blank page and how to spark their imagination beyond anything they thought possible.
Every single one of you has a beautiful world inside your head. It can provide escape, love, comfort, and even a sense of control inside a world that’s pretty uncontrollable. I believe that my mission from God, as of right now, is to show people how to love writing. That could change, and, most likely, it will. But for now, let’s start with the basics.
I’m Kate. I’m unpublished. And I want to help.
Okay y’all . . . it’s off to the races.
And HERE. WE. GO . . .
